Catamount Classic Lacrosse Player Standup

The Catamount Classic is a giant lacrosse tournament that raises funds for testicular cancer research. http://www.catamountclassic.com/index.php

This past week, I hung out on the lawn painting a six-foot tall lacrosse player cutout for the tournament. Once it is fully constructed, kids will be able to go behind it and have their photos taken (with their faces through the helmet). The cutout is now on its way to Massachusetts; I can't wait to see it in place!

This is a just a quick snapshot while it was lying on the grass; the jersey was inspired by the tournament logo.

Poodles in Paris: Annabelle

My friend Tracy requested a pink Poodles in Paris mural if she has a baby girl. I can't help sketching in advance; it's such a cute idea!

Halloween Clip Art: Octopus

Every year I throw a highly-designed Halloween family party. This year's inspiration is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and the palette for all the decorations will be black, white, and a range of grays, blues, and greens.

I've been sketching sea creatures for the invitations and decorations, and I'm really loving octopi right now.

Scifri Videos: Where's The Octopus?

This octopus visually identifies both the surface texture and the pattern of its environment - and then changes its skin to match in less than a second! I keep watching this video by marine biologist Roger Hanlon in complete awe. (The rest of the Science Friday site is pretty awesome as well.)
